Welcome to the new season of the Silverpaw Prediction League, 2012/13. What with the Euros and the Olympics, it doesn't really feel like last season has finished yet! At least no-one suggested an Olympics footy prediction game 
The purpose of the competition is to predict the results, including the scores, of all Premier League matches. Any forum member can compete. No registration is necessary; members can predict as often or as infrequently as they like, though regular prediction is more likely to result in higher scores. You can also join in at any time during the season.
Scoring is simply three points for an all correct prediction of a match's scoreline, and one point for a correct result but incorrect score.
A separate thread will be started for each week of the competition, and predictions should be made in that thread. The thread will cover weekend games (generally Saturday to Monday) and any games scheduled for the following midweek. For any match, a prediction will be valid if the timestamp of the post is earlier (even by one minute) than the scheduled kick-off time.
Beware of editing your posts, as an entire post will be assumed to have the time of the last edit. If you wish to change predictions for later matches after the first match has kicked off, the safe way to do this is to make a separate post. Results and cumulative tables will be included in the appropriate prediction thread.
The fixtures for the first round of the season are:
Arsenal - Sunderland
Fulham - Norwich
QPR - Swansea
Reading - Stoke
West Brom - Liverpool
West Ham - Aston Villa
Newcastle - Tottenham
Wigan - Chelsea
Man City - Southampton
Everton - Man Utd
Chelsea - Reading
Please copy & paste the above into your own post, and type your predicted scores around the "-" (this helps massively with our spreadsheet in calculating the results).
It's good to be typing Southampton in that list, I'm not a fan but having grown up in the 90s, they feel like a proper Premier League club! (This, to me, covers everyone in the 1994/95 season Merlin sticker book, and no-one else )

The deadline for your predictions is 15:00 on Saturday 18th August. I should mention that, if you miss a deadline, you can still post with your predictions for any games in the round that haven't yet kicked off. Good luck.
