Hi we have a new server at work which I put in with Windows 2003 standard server. Email is NOT through MS Exchange.
I did warn them it was a bit out of my league but have got everything working OK. All the third party software that connects to the server is working, but since installing it the tPCs on the network that connect seem to be slower. It is mainly a file server.
Some of the things that happen is things like if we open an excel file fromt he server it keeps pausing and saying 'program not responding' in title bar then after a few seconds it carries on as normal.
Also we had a guy trying to insert attachments into an email, again it paused. But if you drag and drop them onto desktop then onto email it was instant.
Someone has mentioned it might be the way the dns was (or wasnt) set up.
Also some machines are fine and some have these pausing problems.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance.
