Hi Guys, not sure if this is the best place to post but....
basically i put together a new system the other day.

CPU Intel Core 3820 3.60GHz
RAM Kingston HyperX Genesis Blu 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
Videocard Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 2048MB GDDR5
Storage 60GB SSD/500GB HD
Motherboard MSI X79A-GD65 Intel X79
Display Samsung 23" 120Hz 3D Gaming Monitor
OS Windows 7 64 bit
PSU Coolmaster 700w silent pro

But for some reason when i'm playing games, could be withing five minutes or half a hour but the screen goes black and the sound keeps repeating. i can minimize to desktop but it wont open back up so i have to close it.

CPU Temps hit around 70c max
GPU Temps hit around 65c max

Any help would be much appreciated as did buy all from overclockers :)

It sounds like a graphics card or most likely driver failure to me. I assume you have the latest drivers? try the one just before the latest as long as it supports the 680 and see if that helps.

if your running your processor at default speed, and even if its overclocked, that 70 degrees is toastier than i'd be comfy with.

have you checked that the cpu cooler is seated correctly ?

what temp is the processor running at idle ?

Sounds more like GPU to me as well seeing as you can minimise it but can't open it back up. CPU would most likely just lock up the machine completely or BSOD

need to add o/s, gfx card etc then it will list the drivers.

quite possibly, but that cpu temp is of concern if its not overclocked or overclocked badly (overloading vcore etc) and is worth looking at imho.

i got the overclockers bundle where they overclock it? and i already had the only driver for my gtx680 but there is a beta driver which i have downloaded and will try later thanks for your replys

are the power connections secure in the graphics card ?

try re seating the graphics card, maybe try it in different pci-e slots.

if it still occurs, webnote ocuk could just be your unlucky and its a dodgy gfx card.

Pc Problem with games

Hi guys,

I did make a post about this a couple of days ago but for some reason it has been deleted.
I ordered a new system from overclockers the other day :
Intel Core 3820 3.60GHz
Kingston HyperX Genesis Blu 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 2048MB GDDR5
Sound card On board
60GB SSD/500GB HD
MSI X79A-GD65 Intel X79
Display Samsung 23" 120Hz 3D Gaming Monitor
OS Windows 7 64bit
Razer Diamondback

Basically every game i play, it crashes my screen goes black and my sound starts stuttering then it repeats itself. i can minimize to desktop and use that fine its only when i play games. the weirdest thing if i load up counter-strike source when i'm in game there's like a low level repeat of stuttering.

I have tried both the drivers out for my graphics card and the same thing happens on both. Also have tried re-installing my sound drivers.
GPU temps - min 35c - max 65c
CPU temps - min 38c - max 68c

Please any help would be appreciated.

Temps dont look bad.

Is it all at stock speeds? no overclocks?

Check the RAM speed/timings are correct, you can load a XMP profile in the BIOS memory section to set this up correctly.

Do a fresh re-install.

Ensure the latest, chipset INF, Nvidia and sound drivers are installed.

You did set ACHI in the BIOS prior to the install on the SSD? remembering to disconnect the HDD before the install so that all the OS files end up on the SSD.

i second a fresh install, had exact same thing happening but only in certain games, dead island/call of duty world at war, since fresh install of windows its been crash free

i have done a fresh install 3 times and yes i disconnected my normal hdd before installing and all drivers are up to date dont know whats wrong :(

One thing to try is when you are in game and you get the black screen press left shift and minus on the keypad, then type "flush" (you wont see your text)

If you get a message flushing card memory (or something like that) and then get your screen back then the issue is with the graphics memory being full.
Unfortunately I think (someone correct me if im wrong here) this is more to do with poorly coded games than an actual hardware issue, and I never managed to resolve the problem totally. I did manage to stop it happening so often by trying different drivers

Hope you get it sorted
