Hi guys

So since my mobo is potentially fried, im looking at upgrades.

Currently I have a 3930k and a RIVE board.

Since 2011 socket isnt really easily available any more, i have the choice of 2011 v3 or 1151 socket?

Im not sure which is the one to go for here, it appears either way my 32gb ddr3 ram is usless...

and going down to 1151 means i have to use quad core rather than 6.

Any advice?

Well first, it helps if you're going to just buy a CPU to replace or you're doing a ful new build or just a upgrade.
Either way, do you have a price in mind? :) and also what is the main use of your PC?!

If im buying a new CPU i have to buy ram and mobo so upgrade.

price, not really its more whats justifiable, perhaps £1000?

What do yor mainly use your pc for ?

Use is music production which is CPU intensive, as well as gaming

Would a 4970k be an option to you as you could possibly reuse your ram ?

seems like a downgrade since ill still need another mobo just so i can use old ram which also wouldnt be ideal as those boards are only 4 dimm, 2011 socket was 8 dimm, so i can only use half my ram, which makes it an almost pointless move it seems
