new setup and windows question

If i were to change an item of the back bone of my computer ( mobo or cpu ) and used the same hard drive with vista still installed. when i come to bootup for the first time would the copy of vista bootup and work correctly with a new cpu or mobo ?
or would there be some sort of conflict as something has changed ?
 
It should just boot up. You may have to re enter your product key, and then go through the validation process - but you should be good from there. I recently replaced both my CPU and motherboard at the same time - and this is what Windows (7) wanted from me - it worked fine straight off by the way.
 
My personal choice is to re-install windows, saves any problems later.

Is your copy oem or Retail.
