Hey,
I'm at the point of buying a whole new configuration. Main purposes: overall use. Games, internet, office, etc.... Very important: performance and silence.
This is what I came up with.
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM £132.99
(£156.26) £132.99
(£156.26)
Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ) £109.99
(£129.24) £109.99
(£129.24)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £99.99
(£117.49) £99.99
(£117.49)
2x Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AL1065) £74.99
(£88.11) £149.98
(£176.22)
Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM (WD1500ADFD) £107.99
(£126.89) £107.99
(£126.89)
OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £149.99
(£176.24) £149.99
(£176.24)
Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99
(£17.61) £14.99
(£17.61)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card - OEM (30SB057000000) £14.99
(£17.61) £14.99
(£17.61)
Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos Silent Full Tower Case
As PSU, I was thinking about the Seasonic S12 - 600W, the modular one. As cooler the Thermalright Extreme thingy.
For silence, I'd probably have to change the GPU-cooler. What are your overall thoughts here?
Another question, I have 2 SATA HDs and one SATA Writer. Will this work to install windows Vista or will I still need an IDE drive? Can I load SATA drivers of an USB stick? Can someone shed some light on this? The PSU I took, is it as quiet as everyone says?
Any other comments are welcome...
