so looking to change my case to allow my 570 and a better psu to power the system, would a 450w be enough? like the silverstone v3 models for example?

i was going to test out my 500w atx aerocool unit, but it doesnt seem to have the required 8 pin and the case im thinking of is the Nano S.

Either of them should be fine but the newer version (ST30SF v2.0) would be better as it has the full 300w available on it's 12v rail compared to 264w on the ST30SF v1.0. The v2 has a 92mm fan compared to the v1's 80mm fan which was very noisy.

***Edit*** I just had a look at a review for your case and it appears that it uses the psu as the only exhaust. Not only is this poor practice as it will make the psu and a low profile cooler fight each other for air, but it will also mean that the psu fan will be running faster (and noisier) than it would otherwise need to. What I would do is turn the psu so it's fan is sucking cold air through that big top vent and as it looks like a fan can be fitted in the front of the case I would fit one there as the exhaust.

okay cool thanks, i know i posted my sfx once before, but cant remember the version ha and well the aerocool unit was purchased to make up the sig system to sell, but its an atx still, if the sfx wont be a risk then i will try it, i wouldnt be overclocking even if i could use my 570.

as for the case orientation for cooling its not great, but air blowing out from the gpu side, the psu doesnt spin as its never hot enough and the rgb fan ive installed lets a little out, but its an intake, so its pushing air out the sides.

Okay thanks for the reply, good to know of the assurance the psu will work, I do find it ironic how modular units are a god send which is why I have one, but only if you got tower cases, but yeah I won’t be overclocking, doubt I would need to, maybe the 950 for fun, but I wouldn’t use a 300w unit for that either, so I’ll put all this to the test tomorrow.

I’ve posted some pics in my thread in the gpu section, got my 570 to fit, but taking the plate off lol, however the card is too tall to allow the drive bracket and the psu is too big with it to cable manage, so it’s a good job the sfx will work with the 950 and go that route for the time being, damn these small cases ha.

Oh right okay it didn’t feel like the fan was sucking air in as most the air was going out that side with I guess whatever the front fan was sucking in pushing it out the other side vent, as the computer is apart I will turn the fan round so it blows out, other than using the system to run superposition with the case open and the 570 in, the computer wasn’t as near as warm as it was with the 950 and lid on, I haven’t begun to game yet though.
