In my Brain...
Looking to get some new shoes for my sv1000s :D

Been eyeing up a set of PR3's has anyone used them and if so on what and how did you find them?

Not used them but I was stroking a PR3 rear only this morning. :p

I'm on PR2's & can't fault them but the 3's did look sexier. :o

You were secretly hoping it wasn't a stone in your tyre and you could put a nice PR3 on weren't you :p

I had a new set of Pilot Powers on before this happened on the motorway at speed around October  I've got a stale part worn for the rear on atm that I've been nursing over winter, the front only has 7k on it but I'm itching to get a new set.

I spent a week agonising over tyre choice for my Tornado and finally went for Metzeler M5 Interacts. They offer a good balance of life and grip and are excellent value (~£177 delivered for a 120/70ZR17 and 190/55ZR17 from Oponeo - cheaper if you use a 190/50).

If you are looking at PR3s, then the Metzeler equivalent would be the Z8 Interact.

I use PR3 on my ZX6R and I ride all year round. I can't fault them. Awesome tyre!

Are the PilotRoads a commuter tyre offering maximum grip in all weathers whilst trading off feedback and high performance in the process?

It's a sports touring tyre with soft walls but a harder centre to prolong life. ( I just read that :p)

What I can say is I'm a relative noob to bikes about 3 years now & I don't get scared on my bike with these on. Had my VFR about 11 months now & there's still loads of tread left, I don't ride slow but I don't ride like Chris/Agnes either. :p

Why not the PR4?

I'm running a set of these, not done enough miles yet (150ish) to pass full opinion, but so far they have been excellent in these 5-7c mornings, handling wise they're a very neutral feeling tyre. Yet to ride them in the damp/wet. Will have more of an opinion once I've done a proper trip.

Definitely leaning towards the PR3's.

Why not the PR4?

I'm not sold on the PR4, it seems to lean a bit far towards a touring tyre and tries a bit too hard for my liking where as the PR3 is pretty much a pilot power with wet tread on it and a slightly different compound.

I put PR3's, love them.

How are you finding them? Twisties and the dry are my concern in comparison to something like the pilot power which I've already had.

I already know with the wet grip on them I'm going to miss the rear wheel power spins in the wet :(

Pirelli angel anygood? Seem to last ages for me :)

Yeah, I've gone from Pirelli Diablo Strada (old tyre but can pick up for £135 notes the pair) to Pirelli Angel GT's (£237 fitted) when I did my Euro trip last August. Done 5k miles on them and probably half worn on the rear... been superb tbh... HOWEVER, do I think they're stickier than the old Diablo's? I can feel the difference as I'm not a good enough biker to probably push either to anywhere near their limits. However, for wear and wet, the GT's are hard to beat!

Good choice & price :)

Does that fitting include them taking the wheels off?

Yup was ride in ride out.

Took them out for a spin at the weekend, and within a few miles had they gave me enough confidence to test the edge of the grip :)

Really chuffed with them, like night and day compared to my old tyres.
