Sorry to cross post but i'm really struggling here :(

System comprises:

Shuttle SN27P2
AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+
2x512mb Corsair Value Select Kit
Conect3d Radeon X1800

It won't boot at all. Fans and drives spin up, but other than that not a sausage.

Green light comes on the motherboard, red lightscome on and go off on the graphics card. I've tried changing the memory around. There are no beeps.

Any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong?

Power supply?

Had problems with a prevoius shuttle due to this. Not got a spare PSU lying around you could use?

What specific memory kit do you have and have you tried resetting the CMOS and booting with only 1 DIMM?

Tried resetting cmos, and one dimm.

it's the PC5300 512mb kit.

Got both power cables plugged into the mobo?

To be honest that i haven't checked, but can't see anything else that should be plugged in.

One goes into the graphics card and that i did plug in.

if you have no luck at all, you may want to consider, building it out of the case and then try booting it up.....this would take any "shorts" out of the equation...

if it does not boot up outside of the case, and you have onboard gfx card then try booting up without the x1800...

as the previous poster suggested recheck all connections etc...

remember if the mobo is dead on arrival lets say, the lights on it would turn on and the fans would spin...just something to note...

but i would say try rebuilding it out of the case and then try booting...

Would that invalidate the warranty on the shuttle though?

Edit. I'm not sure i can do this becasue of the heatsink arrangement :(

the red light for the graphics card comes on everytime i do a hard boot from cold on my shuttle, the only way to bring it back to life is to do a cmos reset, re-edit all the bios info then exit->restart, works fine after this, i think its because the shuttle is starting to die, or maybe just the PSU

Just a thought is it possible that the board doesn't support dual core out of the box?
I wondered about that but, since it is an AM2 machine surely it supports dual core. I'd contact either the retailer or Shuttle on this one. You have virtually no troubleshooting options since you can't even get to bios. Probably time for an RMA.

I don't know what board it is. Rang OcUK they said ring shuttle. Can't find their number on the website.

Hopefully it is just a bios flash and i'll just have to buy the cheapest, skankiest AM2 processor flash it and sell it.

Wishing i'd just gone for a motherboard upgrade now :(
