You need the UD4 motherboard for SLi with the i5.

P.S. You might want a case which is better at cooling/bigger, as two 480s will pump out a lot of heat. Maybe something like a SilverStone Raven 2. Also maybe go with a modular PSU just for ease - the HX850 or Sapphire 950W are about £30 more than the TX; but then you'll save that by going with dual channel RAM.

Also you will want to go with a dual channel (2x2GB) RAM kit instead of the triple channel kit you have chosen. This kit would be a good choice (especially at the current price if you get in quick).

you still need the UD4 board for sli, so unless your content with one GTX480, keep the UD3 and you can down spec the psu to suit, a Corsair HX650w will manage one in its own.

As burty says, that Gigabyte P55A UD3 board you picked does not support SLI, so you won't be able to run your graphics cards together.

However, since you plan to spend so much money, you may want to consider getting an i7 and an X58 board (plus the RAM you originally picked). The X58 boards all support SLI and run the PCIe lanes at x16x16 speed with two graphics cards, as opposed to x8x8 with almost all SLI P55 boards. Also, the X58 platform has more future upgrade options, since it can support 32nm 6 core CPUs, as well as 45nm quad cores. This board and this CPU are what I would go for.

i use my rig for games only! and a few good guys showed me
down the AMD road. you could build yourself a rig that would
smash any game out now and yet to come for a bit less cash.
"more bang for buck" as they say. crossfired 5870s sounds insane.

you should look into it m8, im glad the guys alerted me.

This just needs a UD4 and I <3 it so much.

Although tbh if it was my money I'd just get the one 480 and an SSD; then switch to a 650/750W PSU - But it depends how much of a max settings whore you are

i5 and 8x/8x will be fine, there's about a 1-3% difference in frame rate with current gen GPUs at 8x/8x vs 16x/16x. Although if you do want to go i7 it adds on about £120 (same price mobo - the popular Asus one; forgotten it's name. + £80 for the i7, and + £40 for the triple channel RAM.
