Regarding the search box, I'm planning on making the whole right sidebar match the right side of the logo, but still on the "layer" beneath it, in order to give a little more depth, that's why the site isn't fully complete, yet.
The colours don't work for me. The black-on-white-on-black is very good, and works really well, but there's confusion at the top of the page. You've got the multi-coloured concentric circles thing, which says "quirky" which provides a good contrast against the black/white thing. Then, right next to it, you've got a more "sinister" (less quirky) red crosshatch thing. Both I think are good ideas but clash horribly when put next to each other.
Personally, I think you should decide whether you want the feel to be bright-concentric-circles, or dark-red-crosshatch and then run with that as your touch of colour, rather than going with both. Personally, I'd keep the red crosshatch as the bottom effect matches well with the top of the white bit effect.

Some very good comments on the Designers Talk forums and I've had a couple of people (non-designers, too) on MSN tell me that they like it.
I think overall, it's a win, and with a few minor adjustments I have planned, it will be the winRAR!
