I am looking at getting two nvidia cards so I can sli them together.
I am on a tight budget so would welcome your thoughts onthis.Any ideas??
Also when I have the cards is it as simple as putting both in then fitting the bridge? I mean what card does the monitor plug into??????.

Many thanks

Why ????
can some one explain where I am going wrong please.........

What would be the best then for around that amount?

Thanks

Hi Fluffy Bunny

I can see where you are going with that idea, however as above it does not mean double the power to have two cards in SLi, thats a very low end card you have with the 8500GT and pants tbh, best bet is something like the 7950 speced above but if it was me, a much better card is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-070-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=404 from the ATi side of things :) or the 256Mb version for about £20+ less. a lot more bang for your buck, plus not all games benifit from SLi and so you'd be stuck with the power from one card any way

not quite sure where your going with that... but if you mean SLI never gets double the fps of a single card then thats not quite corect as there are games where overheads (1-2fps out of 100+) aside it does give you twice the framerate...

Means double the money ;D, only get an SLI setup if you plan on playing games on 2560x1600 as anything par 1680x1050 with sli would be very much an overkill, 24/26/28/30" monitors are only reason to get SLI on a high end system, although you can actually save money by using sli with low end cards.

if you want newest gen cards and can stretch your budget slightly, (still pointless) and SLI, then minimum would be 2x8600GT (gives close to 8800GTS performance)

You can sometimes get used 800GTS 320MB from auction sites for aboutt he same money though, and in MM i have seen a couple sel lfor £150.
This is deffinitely your best option, although some of the high end DX9 based cards are now excellent money.

X1900XT(x) and 7900GTO's going for 90-100 mark.
