There'll be a 500GB model initially, followed by a 12GB model using flash memory.

Not a fan of the looks or the slidy-top lid, but it certainly looks small.

Looks like all those leaked images of the rumoured super slim many months back turned out to be true.

And the fact that the released date, especially for us is near the end of this month, so they had all the time in the world to manufacture them.

Fugly as sin, but if the rumours of the flash model costing so little are true it could really boost sales which is always a good thing for the console market.

What I never understand with these console refreshes is why people who already own an old model buy the same console again?

What is the advantage of a small case?

Are the graphics and sound the same?

Portability and efficiency, both for the user and the hardware itself.

It might be fugly, but if it works well just like the PS2 Slim did, then it's all good for some people.

Power efficiency and noise.

I'm on a 60GB Launch and may "upgrade" to this.

Hmmm looks like it's 190w which isn't that big of an improvement over my 60GB.

€229.99 for the smaller model is still too much :(

Makes me feel odd that the original ps3 is around 5 years old now, close to the life span of the ps2!

Anyway this should be useful for everyone with a classic fat one, I traded mine in a few years ago when I got a free slim because it was already on its way out...

The advantage of a die shrink on the major components, less heat, less power draw, less chance of the YLOD.

I'm looking to get a new PS3 since mine's went and got the YLOD on me, but the price of this is a bit silly.

I quite like the design but it's too late in the console cycle for me to consider buying, I sold my original PS3 earlier this year and there's yet to be a single game to make me regret doing it.

So is it exactly the same as the PS3 Slim in terms of inputs/outputs? Does it still have 2x USB ports? Internal power supply? Does the flash model have a HDD bay?

I think it looks fine for what it is. Nice and small, if they could get it priced at something like £120 for the Flash one and £150 for the 500gb one i think it will sell well.

It has 2 USB ports (pictured), dunno about the HDD bay, but it will be a fail if it doesn't and they release some sort of propriety addon (although which port could it connect to if they did)?

tbh they should have added a couple of USB ports and 802.11n (considering the price is not far off current models you don't seem to be gaining much apart from size reduction).

I reckon £189 for Flash one and £229 for the HDD one, with some sort of bundled game and/or PSN credit. Not that attractive price wise for something quite late in the PS3 lifecycle.
