My Mum (in her 70's) has decided to finally move into the 21st century and upgrade her phone and use it properly - camera, WhatsAPP, video calls, fitbit (****ing things) etc...

Problem is that her present phone doesn't have the oomph, or the on-board memory to do what she wants. She also needs a small 4.5 inch sized phone as larger models wont fit into her pockets - she rarely uses handbags. I know this for a fact as I've given her two 5" phones to try - she successfully broke both :/. I'll be buying it as a surprise as the fitbit/garmin-4-thingy i bought her doesn't function properly with her present phone (on-board memory) - so would be cool if under £200.

TL;DR - need 4.5" 'android' phone with 16gb of memory, semi-decent camera (not crucial) for under £200 - do they exist anymore?

***Stress it needs to be android as i'll be the one rhythmically banging my head against the wall when she rings with a problem - and i don't use Apple products.

Shame about the android stipulation. It sounds like you’re already aware that the iPhone SE is pretty much exactly what your mum needs. If it’s much consolation, iPhones aren’t exactly hard to use. Once you’ve set it up, it’ll be easy for her to use and it’ll take you about ten minutes play around with it to be able to support it remotely (I.e over the phone)

Having a bigger screen don't always mean a mobile phone is large these days with a lot of mobile phone screens now taking up the whole front of the phone

Do you mean a 4.5" size phone or 4.5" screen ?

Pretty sure they start at 5" now.[/QUOTE
Yes, that's my concern too on initial searches.

Galaxy S4 or S5 mini?
How about an Xperia X Compact, or even a Xperia Z5 Compact, look on a popular auction site. Both have 4.6 inch screens...
Thanks guys, I'll take a look.

Yeah - there's no denying the ease of use of the Apple interface.

I'm not concerned about her ability to learn the iphone GUI (well, i am a bit) - it's the issue when she inexplicably ends up in a settings menu and alters a pivotal feature which i then have to virtually reverse engineer to get her phone operational again. Although, i found the below interesting:

Are you implying i could control her device remotely (as you can with computers) - if so, does it have to be another Apple device or are there work arounds? (i may have misunderstood your meaning in my desperation for a simpler life :))

Yes i should have clarified - 4.5" sized phone.

I don't mind if there's a full screen version, i.e. effectively giving a bigger screen, but same footprint as traditional 4.5" phone/screen.
