Hi all,

I am looking to shrink my gaming pc and to do so need to get a smaller gfx card. I don't play demanding games, only Starcraft 2 and diablo 3 so don't need a top of the range card. My current 1gb 5850 plays these games fine and so I am looking for a card that is smaller (no bigger than 180mm) that has similar performance.

I've not bought any PC parts since my current build so am about 2 years out of date!

Thanks all

Pretty sure a performance card can't be found in 180mm length, that's just really small. Even the 7770 is nearly 200mm in length and is much slower than the 5850 in starcraft 2.

If it was me I would wait and see what the GTX660 is packaged like. The GTX670 is 175mm long but they all have coolers which extend their length. No one knows what the GTX660 will be like (well some do but they have nda's preventing telling us mortals) but i'd hazard a guess it (or at least some) will have coolers which don't extend there size beyond their PCB.

I was hoping the performance of a 2 year old card would be easily matched now. I'll have to look into slightly bigger cases.

There has been a focusing of efficiency over performance. Mainly because the hardware is now quite ahead of what's needed to run all our console ports.
