Hi guys,
I am hoping for some help in upgrading my sound system. I currently have an onboard Realtek AC'97 card running an Optical cable to my Yamaha 5.1 compact surround system.
I use my computer connected to my HDTV for music and divx. I appreciate that divx offers in no way shape or form any representation of sound quality and if I am after a good quality audio re-production when watching a movie I don't use Divx (I have my DVD player also connected to my Yamaha system).
Therefore I am looking at spending some money to upgrade my pc for music playback (lossless in particular flac etc.)
Can someone please suggest the best path to take in terms of whether I should invest in a better sound card to feed my basic yamaha 5.1 set-up or if I should abandon the 5.1 for music playback and buy a stereo amp and bookshelf speakers.
I look forward to your replies, thanks in advance.
