New soundbar needed

Get the Sonos arc. I had a demo earlier today and was surprised how crisp it is. Even more so I've just sold my playbar and bought it myself. Just got to wait until early July for more stock now.

Send me a couple of beers and I'll even give you a discount code to take it from £799 to £679.15 bargain price. :)

How do you get the 30% discount please, is it some kind of upgrade program if you have old equipment?

Thanks

30% yes if you trade an old item in on their trade list, but sadly playbar older play 1's etc are not on the list.

Then I have a works perks thing so can get 15% off at any time.

I don’t think you’re supposed to sell it on ;)

At least Mischief gives hers away for free.

I'm not selling anything on...

Beer thing was a joke.

But likewise would generally give to people long standing too than new sign ups.

I would be interested if you have a code, if you can only pass one along, no worries as you responded to OP originally. Cheers

Anyone recommend a decent soundbar please? Will be used with my LG c9 netflix & 4K player. Got £800

Sonos is overpriced crap when it comes to soundbars.

Unless you already have their full Eco system.

Then it's also all locked down and only works with certain codecs.

Personally I can recommend a yamaha ysp 2700. Or samsung soundbars as they now own Harmon kardon and AKG.

Samsung soundbars are top tier especially the atmos ones.

Should go demo the arc first which I assume you haven't, as I can certainly say it isn't crap.

OP also asked for Atmos which I'm sure the 2700 doesn't do.

I don't need to demo it when it's £1500 if you want a subwoofer attached.

Then you have the fact you have no rear speakers that is another what £500 each? So £2500 for what samsung sell for £1200.

My mate has the old playbar which cost £800 plus the subwoofer and rear speakers. was around £2K all in. And honestly my YSP 2700 sounded better.

My dad has the £1500 samsung atmos soundbar and that is what I would recommend if you want atmos. Sonos isn't regarded as being top tier in sound. It's top tier in wireless connectivity something all the rest have now introduced as a result of sonos's success.

That pees all over sonos and is cheaper too by some margin

No one said it is, but you are diverting off course. The OP has asked for a sound bar around the £800 mark. He hasn't asked for a sub or rears, and I can tell you now as a stand alone playbar the arc is actually very good at what it does without the need for extras. If he doesn't want atmos, then I'd actually say go for the YSP 2700 myself and save £400.

Sub and rears increase the immersive experience massively, Atmos with no ceiling speakers? Forget it, its just not proper Atmos. Rather go for a decent quality unit rather than paying 50% Sonos markup.

If the question was "I need wireless speakers all around my home and a new home cinema system and I want both of them to be integrated and have the option to play the same source all around the home". Then my immediate response would be SONOS.

However when someone wants a soundbar and a soundbar alone. With no intention of playing the same source throughout the home or wanting to spend £200-£500 on speakers to dot around the home then it has to be the best soundbar for the money. Even then I don't really see the need for sonos when you can pick up a google mini for £29 and they have bigger speakers available too for more money and they can replicate what sonos does quite well. Even their top end Google Home Max is only £299 and the Google Home £89.

The samsung soundbar has won a best in class award from AVFORUMS and they literally say "What are my alternatives? - In terms of soundbars, there's literally no direct alternative"

If I didn't have a ATMOS AVR and already have 5.1 speakers and I was buying today. I'd go for the samsung linked.

The YSP 2700 is my bedroom soundbar so I didn't need full atmos in the bedroom. Well not yet anyway. Plus I'm not keen on having loads of speakers in the bedroom the YSP 2700 does the job extremely well.
