Afternoon all. For the last 5 or 6 years (i think) i have had a pair of Mission 700's which have never let me down. Ive decided its about time they were replaced but i'm not really sure where to look for the best speakers at the moment. I'm not necessarily looking for where to buy them, just the make/model of ones worth looking at.

If possible i would like them to be more powerful than the 700's aswell. So what should i be looking at?

Thanks Rob.

Price ?
Standmount or floorstanders ?

What amp you use will determine how far speakers can be driven ?

Ive got an old cambridge audio A1 that still seems to be in one piece but again thats almost as old as the speakers so id probably change both at the same time. I suppose for just the amp and speakers i'd be looking to spend £200 - £250.

I think i'd probably be looking at floorstanders now :)

As i said, ive not kept up to date with hifi type stuff for a long time now!

What that budget you will be looking at oldish 2nd hand gear to get an improvemnt over what you have. The amp you have is still a bit of a bargain classic.

If you like the mission sound and your after floorstanders then check the auction sites for 752's and 753's, the last great mission speakers IMO, try and source the revised 'Freedom' model if you can, it had a nicer tweeter. exspect ot pay around £100+ for 752 and £170+ for the larger 753, both are truly stunning speakers that you would have to spend around £800 today to better. They also get better and better as you upgrade your electronics.

Amp wise, Cyrus stuff always works nicley with Mission, but might be a bit pricey, although you could pick up a Cyrus III for around £120+, other classics are Arcam alpha 8 or pref the 9
