hi

around 2.5 yrs ago i purcahsed the soundblaster titanium card with free edifier 1600t speakers and they have been great. now, i have no sound at all. the pc picked up the soundcard fine, all drivers installed. the speakers are also detected but no sound is coming from them. i hear a 'thud' when you switch the speakers on but dead afters. could the s/card be faulty or would the speakers be dead?

if its the speakers which i think it might be, good replacements for under £100?

i hadn't tried that as didn;t have a set that worked. just found a crappy old pair from an old phones and it worked. the speakers have gone. time for new ones! thanks for the remind!!!

to be fair i've really enjoyed the edifiers, good sound in music and games. i may get the upgraded 1600's or try the 1800's. the new design is lush too.

don't really want a seperate amp, no space. i'll check the others, are they better or on par with the edifier range?

i have the 1800T and they sound really good. the other speakers were fine, the RCA outs on the soundacrd have gone. the headphone socket is fine. i didn't have the cable that came with the new edifiers that was 3.5 to RCA's and plugged them in and boom. the 1800TIII sound much better though. i'll sell the 1600t. and maybe get a new scard as seems on its way out!
