Hi guys I'm looking to replace my bose companion 3 as one of the speakers failed after 8 years. I was looking to get a good replacement that will also improve sound quality as well. I like the sound of bose companion 3 and I was thinking about companion 5 but I would like to try something more premium as everyone say bose in overpriced so Im wondering what could I get for 200-300 pounds.

Also question regarding these speakers.
WHARFEDALE DIAMOND 9.0
How do they sound as I need to buy a present for my little sister too and they are on sale for 40 pounds. I been to the retailer where they are on sale but they havent got any on display.

Diamond 9.0s are very highly regarded as they are brilliant things for the money - I should know, I owned them for three years and had to spend £250 (reduced price) on new speakers to actually see a real upgrade.

I can answer the £200-300 budget question after work :) Thankfully I'm sure others can chip in first!

Okay thank you. Would I need a amp or something for diamond 9.0 and also is there any significant difference between 9.0 and 9.1 in terms of sound?

You would indeed need an amp. If you're trying to keep the budget low something like a Lepai TA2020+ is pretty darn good for £25-30. (Again what I started with).

The 9.1s are indeed superior, but they are double the price.

Any suggestions on 200-300 speakers. I'm not sure if I should go for monitors or maybe some good 2.1 or even 5.1?

Also I saw some bose companion 50 anyone heard them? Im very confused what should I buy as the speakers that broke bose companion 3 are the first one that I purchased and back in 2008.
