Hey all,

Well the main point of this is to find out if the following motherboard is going to be ok, as I know there are newer chipsets out now:

Abit IP35 Pro XE Intel P3

We will be using it to overclock, as we want the CPU to run at 3Ghz... Rest of the spec:

Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB
Abit IP35 Pro XE Intel P35
Samsung SH-S202J DVD-RW
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.4Ghz Guaranteed To Run At 3Ghz
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 x2 (So 8GB)

Then looking at the 4870 ATI Graphics card, also not sure which Heatsink would be best to help with overclocking:?

Thanks All,
Jcb33.

I'd say yes considering the reputation of the original ip35 pro but will let someone with the board confirm. Also I reckon you may as well get the basic q6600, I got a q6600 with a poor vid of 1.325 and overclocking to 3ghz was a breeze, just set fsb to 333 and set memory divider and booted without any hassle.

Thermalright Ultra Extreme and Tuniq Tower are both highly rated heatsinks, the Xigmatek S128 is also getting a lot of mentions. With those heatsinks its best to check the case size to ensure it will fit?

I don't think you will go far wrong with the 4870, great card =D

as mentioned go for the standard q6600 no point going for the guarenteed one for extra money.

i'd drop the memory to pc6400, something like the geil black dragon.

I am looking at the Artic Cooler Pro heatsink for this as it gets good reviews for the price.
