Allready own case / hdd / optical drive / operating system etc
only need mobo / cpu / ram / gpu and new psu

this is what i've come up with
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM (allready got Hyper TX 2 CPU Cooler that i will be)
ATI hd3700xt - allready got one so would be able to crossfire them. or do people recommend me going 8800gt route as it will be after xmas i think that i actually get all the parts.
Motherboard - any ideas are welcome would prefer an asus or abit but heard the gigabyte models are good and cheap
Memmory OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK) or Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)

or should i wait for the new cpu's and chipset to be launched. thanks guys

not really, dont wana go overkill though. so like not wanting to go from a 150 graphics card to a 500 quid. but wouldnt mind going from a 40 quid ram to 100 quid ram if its justyfyed.

first off i would recommend the geil ram

I would recommend 4gigs allows you the option if you decide to use vista 64bit. What it does allow is future proof if you do decide to up grade.

This ram will be compatible with either Asus, or Gigabyte

Also the ram price has dropped considerably over the last 2 months 6400 memory will allow over clocking combined with a Q6600 on air to 3.6

Sli memory is a feature for 680i motherboards only. Although the memory can be used in any motherboard it will not be able to take advantage of the sli feature.

yeah, not sure whether to go sli or crossfire. if i go sli i will leave my 3970xt in my other pc and buy a 8800gt and possible a 2nd later in the year. if i go xfire ill but another 3870xt and put them both in here. tough choices
