I've just bought another 850 Evo (when I build my new Ryzen rig I can raid the SSD's) to do a fresh clean install. I cloned over from a 120Gb to another Evo and the PC is running slow whith random BSOD's and generally crap.

I've loads of things on the Old install I want to keep. Programs that are no longer available etc.

I want to do a clean install on the new SSD and then move things over one by one and have the Old SSD as a backup incase it all goes wrong.

Is it as simple as unplugging old SSD and installing new blank one and running the Win10 USB thingy.

Or is there a better way.

Ta

Yes, disconnect the old SSD and install the OS on the new SSD and reconnect the old SSD once complete.

Windows 10 is also good at detecting hardware and downloading drivers.

If you leave your current SSD in you could end up a an OS selection at boot for each disk.

Skip it when asked and when you are online, it should activate for you. Check in Windows activation in Control Panel. If it doesn't, it will tell you what needs to be done.

I installed a brand new CPU (Ryzen), RAM and Motherboard and windows activated for me from when I was on an Intel CPU, different RAM and different Motherboard.

Installing now.

Anyone had issues swapping out the drives again to reboot with the old one. Does Microsoft throw a hissy fit

It's worth mentioning that of you were planning on just moving the entire program over, depending on how it was installed, it won't work.

Although you may have other plans.
