I *THINK* these are ingame screen captures and not renders.

Currently on the front page at :

Really looking forward to this, but they said there wont be much micromanaging of the systems of the ship, which is something I was looking forward to...

*Tries to divert power to the shields

Im very interested to see how they are going to counter the "idiot" factor in all this. Its one thing being in control of your own char but a whole different thing when in the middle of battle someone goes afk and you loose your shields!

Either you own and fly your own starship or you are going to get VERY VERY frustrated at other people not doing what you want them too. Imagine being on a ship controlled by someone else.... doing what they want and never getting to fly it or even have a say where it goes... whats the point?

So the only other option is to give you your own starship... whcih wont be in fitting with the star trek universe as u dont usually see 3 or 4 million starships all lined up waiting to dock!

They say that everyone will be able to own a ship... great. All this means is the idiots will be fighting constantly outside any docking ring and not giving a rats as to the story/universe/settings.

I really hope this works, it has the makings of a real money spinner for them. Lets just hope it doesnt go the way of star wars galaxies!

Exactly. For example in the 'real world' of Trek, the helmsman and tactical officer would be coordinated enough to point the ship in the right direction to fire, and not be 'tards about it, but will that translate in the game? Imagine having an on the rails arcade shooter like house of the dead but having the game looking at the floor all the time or running around in circles like a moron so you can't shoot anything.

I do however like the idea of having the Galaxy class ships as hubs.

Really looking forward to this game :) Looks awesome, and I have far, far too much faith in it. But thats all part of the fun :p

Those who want to fly their own ships (on their own) and have real politics etc.. try EVE:Online. It's exactly what you just described..

i so want this game to succeed but i cant get my head round how they plan on satisfying everyone who wants to fly a ship or just have a minor role and sync it all...maybe a "guild" gets it own ship and then the guild argues amongst it self with a little better result than random people in a group....i dunno, does look pretty though for an MMO hehe

Klingons do that! don't they challenge the Captain, they fight it out on the bridge, and then who ever wins is the captain :)

You can only kill your immediate superior, and only if s/he has been negligant in their duties (DS9, episode where Worf and Dax go off to rescue a crippled Klingon cruiser with General Martok). Klingons have rules and rituals for everything, even assassination :p
