I currently have a large amp which takes up a lot of room on my desk so am looking to streamline this a bit.

Looking for a discrete amp which has a couple of audio inputs, headphone output and ability to drive a couple of small Tannoy Mercury speakers.

I did find the Denon PMA50 amp that appears to do it all for £300 approx. but looking for something a bit cheaper if it exists.

Thanks in advance.

Monitor Audio A100, nice and compact, plenty inputs, headphone out, fantastic sound and power left-over for if you decide to upgrade your speakers later down the line.

But I think the Monitor Audio A100 is no longer available at retailers?

I'm not sure it is either. It was mentioned end of last year when someone else was looking for an amp, and although Richer Sounds came up when looking for the the A100, when going to the actual item page, you were just re directed elsewhere.

It's coming up on one site I can see, but £300 or so.

There is a used one on eBay, but that's selling for used, what it was available for, new.

Its around here or there, used prices are around £150 and well worth it - rainforests, avforums etc are all good bets.

I honestly cant think of anything better for the money, or for £100 more.

how about a used Cyrus integrated? the form factor makes it useful for desk use. Ive been planning to upgrade from my onkyo micro system (CR-515DAB) from Cyrus 5 onwards (I think), they include head phones on the back panel.

just a thought

The Cyrus looks a good option but for the money I'd just go for the Denon in the original post.
The more I look at it the more appealing it is for the price.

That Denon in your original post does look good, and I'm glad I stumbled across this. A Cyrus option may be better "hifi" but the features are attractive, and the unit looks good.

let me know how you get on with it, might get one myself!
