Hi All,

I have been away from the PC scene for over 10 years as I have been using a MacBook since 2009. Just yesterday I had to hand my 2019 MBP into Apple for a battery repair and its going to take them 2 weeks to get it back to me. I have been using this as my main work horse for my streaming setup on Twitch. Now after this issue I feel its time to consider a dedicated PC for the job.

The MBP spec is as follows and does the job, 2.3Ghz i9, 32Gb ram and AMD 5500M

I know that in the PC world the AMD Ryzen is the way to go but what spec would you guys recommend, say the budget is 1k for the entire tower. Looking for a price and spec.

I see it being something like the following:

AMD Ryzen (unsure of speed)
16Gb ram
Nvidia 3070
As much storage as possible for music

Can anyone help me out?

Just to be clear the sole purpose of this build would be to stream 1080p video via Twitch and allow me to manage my music collection as I Dj on there.

Thanks

I'd probably go with an 11400 based system at that price.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £745.85

The difficult bit is the GPU: specifically that GPUs are simply sold out everywhere. The second issue being price as we're getting close to the 1k limit and you're looking at £400 for a mid range gaming GPU like a 3600 right now: if you happen across one in stock.

Given the main point of your system is to stream, you could opt for an 11400 (non F model) with the Intel Iris GPU for £20 more. When combined with the CPU cores this would absolutely allow you to stream to your heart's content; Intel iGPUs are damn good at encoding and decoding. That in turn would allow you to buy a 3060 Ti/3070/6700 XT when availability and prices return to something approaching normality. Right now... you could probably pick up a used 1660 Ti for about £300 from the MM (not a member but that seems the going rate).

if going b460 to save cash... check to see if there is quick flash ability (flashing without CPU ) available on the board

Budget/entry GIGABYTE B460 come with that feature as standard so you can flash to 11Th gen intel with ease!

Good point mate, cheers for the heads up. After checking your board does have such a feature, and the one I suggested doesn’t. Would recommend your board instead.
