Hello there

I have a strix 870e and I can’t get it to boot. The bios came on once and said something about a new cpu and resetting TPM chip. I then rebooted and it never came back on again. I’ve just spent £2.5k and I expecting my pc to work but it’s not, I’m so ****** off.

Can anybody help please?

When I installed the 9800x3d for first time it said something about a Tpm reset so I said yes and it never came back on again. Why is it’s even asking me for this? Has this board been used before?

That's normal, nothing to worry about.

How long are you waiting for it to boot?

Yes powers up, black screen with anything I do ram in ram out, the bios did come on at first and it “a new cou detected, reset tpm and then after that nothing. Even reset cmos by pressing button on back of mobo about 5 times. Theres another button where you can write bios to the mobo from usb when the machine is off but powered up. Even when prepping usb fat32 with bios renamer and then copy bios into root of usb then flash which the button does on the back for you it still gives me a black screen nothing even on a second monitor. I also ran a hdmi cable from mobo to monitor, still black screen. The first time I got to bios I had it plunge into gpu. No matter what I do it’s a black screen, even removed cmos battery then put back in still the same. When I switch on it shows errors code 00. On the board, the 00 flashes slightly in colour

I’m thinking cpu might be dead on arrival? What you guys think or could it be mobo or ram?

My ram

My cpu

Mobo

What do you mean the first time? Have you removed and reinstalled the CPU since the reset? If so, I would check for bent or damaged pins on the socket.

I would try booting with a single RAM stick (in the slot that the instructions say should be used with a single stick) after a CMOS reset. (I'm not sure if that's what you meant when you said ram in ram out as one of the things you have already tried.)

Hi yes I’ve tried that still black screen. Seems to be a common problem with certain boards and these cpus over the internet. I’m gonna send board ram and cpu back as it’s brand new I want all 3 replaced

The x870 Tomahawk lets you update the BIOS using a flashdrive without even going in to the BIOS, so I might have started there.

Failing that, f it was me, I would send the motherboard back and keep the CPU and memory.

All 3 can't be broken.
