One thing which is 'frustrating' is the pricing on the bottom end of the i7 - it's well ever £200 even for the slowest chip, a far cry from Core2 which had a more modestly priced part in the E6300. What with mobos being priced similarly and the need for DDR3 memory, budget-conscious consumers must be steering clear.
I'd like to see a budget range come out this year (or significant price cuts when new parts are launched), with i7 chips and decent mobos dropping into to the £100-150 range. I suspect one of the reasons that Q6600 prices have risen in recent months is because there has been no competition to counterbalance the devaluation of sterling. It built a good reputation as a cheap quad around the £111 mark but with the i7-920 costing double that, there's room for it to sneak back up in price.
