Hi all, can you please assist - its been a good 10+ years since i even looked at a car audio install and i have flushed out all my know-how :(

I have the box on order (dual 10" ported) that will fit into my 350z, i think i have sourced the correct monoblock amp too to power the subs...

Maximum Output Power
1 x 1000 W (4Ω)
1 x 1600 W (2Ω)
1 x 2400 W (1Ω)

Continuous power output (RMS)
1 x 500 W RMS (4Ω)
1 x 800 W RMS (2Ω)
1 x 1200 W RMS (1Ω)

I have the choice of two subs (which I will need 2 of)

SubWoofer Choice 1
Maximum output power 1200 Watt
Nominal output power 350 Watt
Impedance 4ohm
Voice Coil type Single

SubWoofer Choice 2
Maximum input power 1200 W
Nominal input power 350 W
Impedance 4Ω (2Ω / 8Ω)
Voice Coil type Dual

My Questions.
1.) Am i right in thinking that a dualvoice coil is no louder or more powerfull than a single voice coil system?
2.) am I right in thinking if i wire up 2x Subwoofer 1's in Parrallel I would be drawing a nominal output of 700w @ 2 ohm?
3.) would there be any performance benefits running 2x Subwoofer 2's instead at 700w paired at 1 ohm? (parrallel voice coils and sub wiring) - would i benefit from the extra max power ratings?

Running multiple subs on one amplifier is not a good idea. If you have two subs, get two amplifiers. Typically when you wire up two speakers to one amp, the demands on the amp are increased, THD rises, the amp gets hotter.

I wouldnt have thought this would be too much of a problem here, the specs of the amp still exceed the requirements of 2 subs in parrallel
Do you have any links to further back-up your argument? needless to say i want to ensure i purchase the right parts 1st time :)

Providing the amps power rating is equal to or higher than both subs in parallel, and is stable at 2ohms, it's perfectly fine.

Dual voice coils have no effect to sound or loudness, it's just a wiring option for getting the most power out of the amp.
If you want to increase bass/sound q, then get 2 single coil subs.

I would go for sub 1 and wire them in parallel

Coming from home audio side, I wouldn't do it.

Perhaps demands on ICE is different as you don't need the SPL output, you probably have 10dB of cabin gain compared to a home cinema sub.
