New sub need advice

Hi guys at the moment I have corsa c from 2004 and I'm looking to buy a sub. I found cheap one 2nd hand active sub Model fli trap 12 1000w (rms 400). However Im not sure if I buy it if my car could handle it ? I got Pioneer DEH-1800UB radio and a after market speakers 6/9 from pioneer on the back (front stock at the moment).

My main concern is that my alternator and battery wont handle it (it's all stock at the moment battery changed 2 years ago for manufacturer recommended). Any suggestions?
 
I have the bigger twin version of that sub and it's fine in my civic with bog standard battery if that helps.
 
It'll handle it. Those FLI subs are pretty crap, but the bonus is it's not likely to be able to ever draw enough power to overload the alternator :p 400 watts (if you're lucky) is a maximum of about 28-30 amps.

I may as well give it a shot only for 20 pounds. I can always re sell it for 10.
 
I had the same sub in my old civic, it was just OK. The bass is quite muddy and not very punchy. I would personally get a smaller one for a better kick.

Looks like a kid's school project. I haven't bought any audio stuff in ten years or so but surely you can get something better than this?
 
Reading this post takes me back, set of 6X9's and a 12" sub with a purple haired troll in the port hole of the box. Peterborough Max Power cruise 2am (boobies are real). All inside a Ford Orion 1.3 encore, wish I'd have just spent my money on a better car.

I had that in my old golf / civic / anything I could put it in. Was pretty crap and glad I got rid of it to be honest. And I had stock battery and alternator powering it
 
Okay guys I think im going to pass this sub and buy better one. Any recommendations on good punchy sub with nice sub base? I got enclosures for 6/9 speakers took me a while to make and seal them properly.
 
Also I question. would it be possible to have thunderous base like in headphones DT770s I completely love these headphones. Some people said to wear them in car but just no... as I wont be able to hear anything else.
