New Switch Lite owner, hints & tips please.

I just got a Switch Lite for my grand daughter (aged 7) and was wondering about a few things.

Whats the best way to get games? Buy the physical game, buy it online through Nintendo, use a key service like cdkeys, etc.?

I understand stick drift can be an issue, is there anything else i need to look out for?

Anything else that i am unaware of?

Also is it worth getting the Online + expansion pack? its saying she can play older Nes/Snes/N64 games through using it?

Can't beat a mix of carts and digital, best of both worlds, and I'd start with a decent sized SD card.

Ooh I forgot about the sd card, I presume its for any downloaded games?

I'm of the view, there are better, cheaper, and more portable devices to play retro games on which offer a far greater wealth of systems, games, and customisations.

I think there are better ways to experience older games, but I do think the current £35/yr price for all the old systems + Animal Crossing DLC + Mario Kart 8 DLC is fine.

I certainly don't mind paying the price (even if after 5 years of subscribing Nintendo UK ignored me for pre-ordering the Switch 2 :rolleyes:

). Yes you could buy the DLC outright. You do get other small benefits like access to NSO exclusives like the GameCube controllers for Switch 2, or N64 controllers for Switch. And cloud saves - which are pretty robust. And then for Switch 2 free 'costed' upgrades for the two Zelda games. And the mandatory online tax if you want to play online.

It's YMMV and subjective, but I think if you're going to want to play old games it can be good, particularly as it all works out of the box.

I just ordered a 256gb Sandisk micro SD card.

As to playing retro games, i was looking at other devices that had 100's of games, and if it was just for my use, i would have got one of those, but this is for my 7 year old grand daughter, and i wanted a system with an easy to use UI, and not to have to select what console and scroll through dozens of games to pick which one she wants to play.
