Hey guys,

I've just received my new system today, and am having a nightmare of a time with it.

Got to the stage of updating windows, and any update which requires a restart makes the system hang on 15% configured.

It's driving me around the bend.

Microsoft site speaks of pressing F8 and using startup repair, which worked for the first few initial instances of the bug, but now that doesn't even work and i have to safe mode then restart to get anywhere near the calm waters that is the desktop.

What the hell is causing it, i'm absolutely fuming over it :(

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, mine's the i7 too.

When i rang them they didn't have the foggiest idea what it could be. Which was kind've worrying. I've poked around on the M$ website a bit more, and there's various things to try. So it should work itself out.

Just a bit disappointing when buying such an expensive system.

yeah but the thing to remember is it was fine till the update, so its not the system. there must be an update recently which just doesnt like something to do with the system. if you need to get back in just press f8 after the BIOS but before the windows thing, and chose safe mode. it should go through fine, then just restart

id try a memtest, i had nothing but problems doing windows updates on one of my boxes turned out the memory was screwed.

I am having this issue still it seems, its very odd. the system stalls on the configuring updates part, a power off power on solves it. but my windows update log is filled to the brim with "Pending" updates. will try a memtest and see what i get

I've sent my PC back. I don't even get mine solved by powering it on/off. It just goes around in a never ending cycle, as safe mode has stopped loading and startup recovery has stopped working too. All very bizarre.

Hopefully they can fix it all for me :)
