Hi i need a base unit, case, cd drive, etc, but already have monitor, mouse and keyboard that i can use.
The main use would be for gaming, but also needs to be able to do other stuff. I would like it to have surround sound (i dont have surround sound headphones, so i could probobly stretch to £650 if it came with headphones)

Could somebody please suggest what would all work together. (As im very noobish i wont be overclocking, or if i do it will only be slightly, after reading loads about it)

Thanks in advance,

Joseph

That board will not take the RAM, The RAM chosen is DDR and the board needs DDR2 choose the GeiL DDR2 as it seems to be the most popular, I know because I have some :)

It all looks good only thing is you need to include a CPU fan as the OEM processor does not come with one. I would say perhaps get a freezer 7 Pro as they seem to be the most popular and they are good for oc'ing :). Also I would say perhaps get a more powerful PSU as I know that GFX card requires a bit o' juice, and also if you will be oc'ing then a more powerful PSU will help :). HDD I would say go for a Seagate 7200.10 or a Samsung Spinpoint as they are the quietest and fastest drives (Maxtor are unreliable as far as I know)

Hope This helps

Ok i changed the hard drive to samsung and added a cooling fan. Is this basket ok? i dont need cables or anything? also anyone else see anything else that could be modified or tweeked a little? couple more questions too.

just noticed the processor is oem, and there is a retail version available, which comes with a fan. Is it better to get the fan that i have, or to get the retail version which will come with one. Also is there any other difference between oem and retail?

Secondly you say the processor may be a little underpowered, and i cannot afford to buy a more expensive one really, so would it be better to drop down to say a 7900?
