Fox McCloud
Hi there.
Long time customer here of Overclockers, got my first few systems from them great guys there.
Currently have:
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
1GB Geil PC3500 RAM
200 + 250GB SATA HDD
GeForce 6600GT
lalalala etc etc.
Its like...3 years old and still going strong, it'll play practically anygame but newer ones, theyre getting lower and lower in settings in order to play
SupCom comes to a stand still some times.
So,
I'm going to be building a new system soon and I'd just like a little advice on potential really.
I've been a devout follower of AMD for years now, but since Intel has managed to finally make a chip thats any good, I've decided to ditch AMD and come to Intel with the Core 2 Duo ofcourse.
I was planning to get a E6300 but I hear new chips are on the horizon with more cache and goodness galor
So id like to wait.
Anywho.
I was going to get myself a nice and expensive ASUS board since I do love them to bits, but Ive heard lots of praise for EVGA and looking at their board, it looks rather nice and has good specs toboot, so im gonna get that I think(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-000-EA&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=205).
Once the 6550 arrives I shall make that purchase.
What I am wanting to know is, with this mobo chip combo, what RAM (2GB) should I get to get the best overclocking potential (dont want to go too high, best overclock I can do from standard air cooling).
I hear the current E6300 can get to around E6700 clocks and beyond, will the E6550 do this too ? And its got the higher 1333mhz FSB which the Mobo supports.
I am going to pair this setup with either an Nvidia Geforce 8600 or 8800 too and some nice and shiny bits and bobs. Completly new system.
Anyway, yeh, some advice would be nice on the RAM..or any recommendations on a better Mobo-Ram combo would be cool.
Thanks
