Hi all,

Going to be investing in a completely new system in the near future to replace my old one. Looking at spending around £2.5k and looking at a Titan graphics card.

The one thing im very out of touch with is the state of play with intel cpus. Is there a new generation on the horizon and if so what is it and is it worth waiting for? Assuming if there is this will effect choices in board/mem.

I'm not in any rush so to speak, got an old i7 in my current PC so its not like its slow.

Thanks,
Ash

Haswell is out in a few weeks, this replaces the Ivybridge line of CPU's switching from the 1155 socket to the 1150..

In your price range its well worth looking at the 2011 socket and a hex core 3930k.. The 3930k is a Sandybridge-E chips, there is also Ivybridge-E and Haswell-E on the horizon but nothing confirmed.

why the titan? if its a gaming pc your going for you will get more bang for buck from other cards. if its raw compute your after the titan is good though.

ofc if your just after the fastest single GPU cudos then its your call.

Deffo wait for Haswell, you will either get a little more power for the money or it will knock a few quid off ivy bridge.
