New system after ten years!!! Monitor help please

I have occasionally popped up in the CPU forum to say how amazingly my Q6600 has been doing... but after a decade or more I have finally bought a new PC from Overclockers

However... 1) should I get a new monitor? 2) And if so - what?

My current monitor (thanks to OC orders tab I can see it from 2010 order) - LG W2246S-BF 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

New CPU and GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight Core and Saphire RADEON RX VEGA 64 NITRO+ 8GB HBM2 PCI-EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

Ok... So I mainly use my PC for work these days. But occasionally get to play the odd game, I like Total War series but would probably still have a blast on Battlefield or similar if my PC could still cope. So it's basically the Orcs from Total Warhammer versus Mr MicroSoft Paperclip.

Firstly - Do I need a new monitor? I guess I should get one as I don't think my 2010 one would make the most of my new PC setup. It still worksfine which - no dead pixels - in fact that is pretty good for a 2010 LG monitor!

Secondly - This is much trickier. I have looked hard online for a couple of days. And I will admit I am confused. Sub 4k vs 4k. 60 v 144 v 240. Freesynch? It's all a bit confusing. I would like a screen that is 24 to 28 inch and makes the most of my setup but without going above £250 to £300.

So - any ideas or help very welcome!

Thanks,

Will

Best value = AOC q3279vwfd8 for ≤£200 (but it's a 32 inch screen)
Best TN = dell s2719dgf for ≤£310

(Both prices if you shop around)

4k is pointless currently. not enough gpu horsepower to drive it currently unless you turn settings down - in which case, might as well have just ran it at 1440p...lol.
just stick to 1440p. you won't notice the difference in fast-paced fps
