Hi folks 1st post on these forums so here goes, Just built my new system as per my sig. I have been trying to load vista ultimate through the night and all day but it just wont boot into windows I even took a couple of days of work to get this together but to no avail the bar steward just wont boot up after loading vista

I can boot into safe mode just fine, have all the latest drivers etc etc but its not happnin. So i called on my reserve and loaded XP Pro with no hassles what so ever. My laptop works a treat with vista ultimate and am seriously confused as to why a very modern spec wont even boot up. I would assume that because I can boot into safe mode that there must be a driver issue but im afraid i cant see the wood for trees. Any help, info and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forums,

make sure you've got the latest Nvidia drivers for your 8800 and vista from HERE and install them whilst in safe mode.

Thx for the quick reply. I went onto EVGA's website and downloaded their vista driver as my suspicions were the graphics card however it is a little smaller than nvidia's driver so i will give that ago and hopefully that sorts it.

Cheers.

Nope that didn't work im afraid :( I think the driver from nvidia and the one from evga were or are the same.

I did notice one other thing... just at the point of windows vista booting up (the green night rider bit) num lock caps lock & scroll lock lights all flash on the keyboard at the exact time of the pc freezing. this is an old dell ps2 kb that that I realy like, im wondering if vista has issues with ps2. I shall get a usb kb today and just see if thats the problem

Cheers

Update.... Was hoping to get a few more replys but none the less i managed to sus the problem and it was finally solved by flashing/updating my bios albeit the mobo manufacturer claims it to be vista ready etc but sorted now, hopefully no more problems will arise.
