New system build - advice please

The mobo reads it from the SPD part of the memory (I believe) but you always have the option of manually setting the RAM speed.

The doubling comes from the double data rate. Dual channel means that both sticks of RAM can be accessed at the same time.

Hi Just got home.

Went into the BIOS changed everything over to manual with regards to the CPU and voltage.

The DRAM voltage is set to 2.00V by the mother board and the Timings are indeed read from the SPD.

But CPU-z shows it's running at 300Mhz. FSB:DRAM is 2:3 (guessing this is the 200Mhz FSB: 300Mhz DRAM).

And interestingly the Timings are 5-5-5-18 shall I manually change theses to 5-5-5-12 in the BIOS?

Also, I've been reading in the overclocking guides that the FSB:DRAM is best to be at 1:1 does that mean i'll ahve to raise the FSB for 400Mhz as well?

OK, because I'm an impatient Nelly. Thought i'd try it anyway (changing the timings in the BIOS).

When i did that though i wasn't getting a display on my screen and there was a horrid siren-type beeping coming from my PC. So I reset *** CMOS and its working again now.

Mental note - "Don't mess with the timings" lol

OK this is really annoying me now. My RAM just wont change from 300Mhz (reading as that in both CPU-z and Everest). Although the OCUK website says the times should be 5-5-5-12. The SPD sasy 5-5-5-18.

Also, OCUK says 1.8V and my Mobo is defaulting to 2.0V (don't think it matters just thought I should point it out).

I've tried changing the timings manually to 5-5-5-12 but my system didn't like that and made *** stragne sireny-beeping noise (as posted above).

Can anyone help me please? I'd like to OC my CPU but don't want to mess with that until I've got the RAM to the STOCK values!
