I'm considering buying a new system in the new year (as i haven't upgraded my prehistoric system for a while) and was hoping i could get some advice on some of the components i might buy. The system would include:-

CPU - Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
CPU Heatsink/Fan - Zalman CNPS9700-LED Aero Flower
Mobo - Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X
Memory - Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8000C5 1000MHz Ballistix
PSU - Seasonic M12 Modular 700W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply
GFX - BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Case - Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate (Big enough for GFX card?)

Are some of the components a bit overboard (like the memory is £280!) and could be toned down? Also is there any potential conflicts with these products that i should know about?

The Tuniq Tower would be a preferable CPU cooler. RAM is overkill I'd say. The Geil PC6400C4 is more than good enough, and you can OC it if you want. Not to mention it's £100 cheaper, which is money better spent elsewhere. 700W PSU is overkill unless you are going to be going SLI in near future, but I don't think that mbd supports 8800 SLI anyway. The Corsair 620W would be a good PSU choice. It's basically a Seasonic anyway, just with Corsair branding. If you want SLI, go with the EVGA 680i or the Striker Extreme motherboard if you can afford it! Otherwise, the Asus P5W64-WS Pro would be the better choice. That case will take the GTX no problem, although it wouldn't be my choice. I'm getting a Lian Li for my imminent upgrade. The money you will save on cheaper RAM and PSU would be best spent on better case and better mbd in my opinion. Hope that helps...
