Hi looking for some advice on a system i just built from scratch.

i5 3570k
8gb corsair vengeance
500gb samsung HDD
Asus p877-v motherboard
gigabyte 670 2gb

ive built it and installed the OS (windows 7 64 bit home premium) but it just doesnt feel right, for example it can be a bit "slow" loading programmes, almost as if their sticking when opening, another way to describe it is as if the FPS is dropping.

When im typing it lags by a fraction of a second typing in the keys etc.

When i scroll on a web page, it sticks slightly again.

Ive updated all graphics drivers.

Any advice? Sorry its a bit vivid, but best way i could describe it.

Hi thanks for the tips, I will try this tomorrow as im currently at work.

One thing I will say though is you can hear the system accessing the hard drive, is there anyway to test the drive for it being faulty in anyway.

Im currently playing rome two without any problems. However on desktop you can see something just isn't quite right. Its not entirely noticeable, but me being scrutinising on 800 quid of parts can notice it.

Carried out HDD tests, passed all tests so far.

Regards to anti-virus. AVG.

I didnt know you could put memory in the wrong slots? #

It seriously beginning to annoy me, as i cant figure out what is causing this.

My computer index score is 5.9, this is due to the hard drives data transfer rate? Could this be the cause of the problem?

No SSD im afraid. In hindsight i should have just bought one. But never the less, this build which is still less than a week old shouldnt be giving me any problems, unless something is faulty?

Is something plugged in somewhere wrongly, is something not performing at its optimal ability.

Im just going to go run cinebench and see what that says.

One yellow icon in device manager for universal serial bus controller. Wouldnt explain the "lagging" when scrolling on a web page though?

here are my specs in closer details.

550W PSU, XFX Core Edition P1-550S-

Still to try removing GPU, currently downloading ATTO. Updating MOBO drivers as we speak.

There is just constant hard drive activity noise coming from the HDD

Cheers for all the tips folks. Im working my way through each one, one step at a time.

Here is the result of ATTO, it doesnt make much sense to me. Will to you more than me.
