Just wanted to show it off really, if you don't mind indulging me.

Spec as below, and fairly happy with a total expenditure of (!) £1177.28 all told :D

Lian Li A05B / Sharkoon Golf Balls / P35C-DS3R@333 / [email protected] / Tuniq Tower
4GB Crucial Ballistix 4-4-4-12@800 / HIS X1950 Pro 512 IceQ3 / Two Spinpoint 500s
Samsung DVD Writer / HX520W / Dell 2407WFP / AS501 / Evo Marlin / Ergo-Shark / Vista x64

I did have a couple of questions, if anyone has the answers:
- SuperPI dies after about 5 mins on 32M calculation on Vista x64. Is this a known problem? It completes fine on XP...
- The 2407WFP backlight brightness decreases slightly right to left. It's an even gradiant, not patchy and no leakage. Should i be fussy, given that i'm free of dead pixels and other flaws?

Cheers,
Rich

You had over a grand and you bought a DX9 card?

:\

Nice rig though. 4gig of RAM is overkill. 2gig will be fine for the next 1 or 2 years.

I did! For reasons down to noise/power consumption/temperature, and not being a gamer ;-) Original brief was:

- primarily a multi-user desktop for work, music (lineout through HiFi) and occcasional movie
- a little light gaming usage, eg. Grand Prix Legends / Quake3 / MS Flightsim
- as silent as possible, always on
- RAID mirrors, legacy printer/scanner/serial devices to support
- needs to last another 5 years (like the last PC) with minimal upgrades
- not really fussed about overclocking
- looks good :-)
- hot study, with system stood on plush carpet

I reckon I've hit the target. CPU and graphics upgrade mid-term if need be, when Quads and GTXs are as cheap as chips! :-)
