New system, CPU and GFX ??

I'm struggling with speccing up my new PC. I've pretty much decided on every component other than the CPU and GFX card causing me some brain strain. I need some sage advice to aid in my decision.

I was looking at a Core 2 Quad 6600 originally, and then the 45nm Core 2 E8500 with its smaller die and great overclocking caught my attention. And now the 45nm Q9450 quad core is due out and my brain is about to explode! (any idea when the Q9450 is due out btw??)

Also, on the GFX card front, I currently have an 8800GTS 640mb and I was eagerly awaiting to see what the 9xxx series had to offer. It seems the 9800GTX is a bit underwhelming, and the 9800 GX2 is pretty decent in terms of grunt, but very hot running and power hungry. Would 2 x 8800GTX 768Mb be better than a 9800GX2??

Any experienced players out there have any advice?

What res and games do you play?
Forget the 98xx series, go for a single 8800gtx and an E8400 (maybe a second gtx if your not happy with performance) I'm guessing most games won't fully use all 4 cores until were on the new intel socket but a q6600 wouldnt be a bad choice.

I run at 1920x1200 on a Samsung 245b. Based on some gfx advice I think I'm leaning towards a single 8800GTX 768mb with an option to pop another in if I feel the need, so yup that seems to be the way to go.

Still dwelling over the CPU options though :)
