New system for around 2K......on the right track ?

Hey guys,


I've been out of the PC game for a while now and Im attempting to put together a new system to catch up . So ive dont much research and come up with the following.

Bear in mind I'm no overclocker , I just want the fastest , quietest build I can can get for 2K.

I've got 2 monitors in the list , not really decided between the two at the moment. Both seem pretty good , not 100% convinced the BenQ is worth nearly £100 more...or is it ?

Two monitors?

With that money I'd be going X99.

And I'd be looking at a better PSU. Corsair don't get good reviews lately.
 
PSU is not as good as a Superflower or EVGA G2 (also made by superflower).

RAM is just 1600Mhz, you can get faster kits.

I really wanted a 27" monitor though...currently have a 24" and Project Cars on 27" is drool worthy I reckon ;-)

Is X99 really the way to go for a gaming system ? I had heard from lesser knowledgeable people the 4790 still wins for this type of workload ?

Ill have a re-jig tonight based on some of the suggestions :-)
 
The 4790K is going to be quicker as it naturally has a higher core speed advantage and still 8 threads.

But the X99 is no slouch and as mentioned in the first reply, you can afford it.

A 27" Gsync screen - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-067-AC&groupid=17&catid=948 - it is still 1080P tho.

27" 1440p

A single 980 will give you good framerates. You can add a 2nd later on.

Dropped the Ram down to 8GB which is still good for gaming.

Crossfire 290X and Freesync (AMDs rival to gsync), the monitor is a few weeks away from coming into stock, you also don't need two 290X to run 1440P and AMD will have new cards (300 series) soon.

Loving the look of the Acer Predator XB270HA 27" G-Sync 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor ......dropping both of my original shortlisters and nailing this one in !

Had also missed the MB with OEM cpu bundles as well.....again will be using one of these :-)

Just shuffling some final options around now , you have all been a great help. Ill post up my final spec soon.

Only regrets are probably not going with the Asus ROG swift 27" screen. Purely from a size perspective ( i set a little bit further away than i did previously and didn't take that into account ) as the BENQ is a stunning monitor with Gsync.

Adjustable backlighting along with RGB keyboard and NZXT RGB case lighting satisfies the lighting nerd in me.
