Hi All,

I have been building the following Spec PC:

i7 4770k CPU
Asus Maximus VI Formula Mobo
H100i CPU Cooler
MSI 770 GTX Lightning GPU
250GB SSD Samsung
8GB Kingston Hyperx Predator RAM
H660 Silent Chassis
Seasonic 760W Platinum Series PSU

I have connected up the parts and the system is not starting up. The following are the symptoms:

The Mobo lights, such as the ROG Display at the center of the MB and Start, Reset Buttoms come on but if I push the Start button on the Mobo or on the chassis nothing happens

The H100i Corsair Display on the pump DOES NOT light up - not sure whether this should light as soon as the power is connected or if only when the System is running

The PSU fan does not come on - obviously because the system is not running

I have unseated and reseated the following:

All the Power cables in to the PSU (at BOTH ENDS)
I have ensured the 24 pin cable to the MB and the 8 pin power to the CPU are definitely connected
The Corsair Link USB cable - I have switched to different headers and checked the 3 pin cable is seated into the CPU fan connector on the MB

Any advice? I have DO NOT have access to another PSU

Thanks in advance

have you also made sure the 4pin power is connected aswell? the motherbaord needs the 24pin, 8 pin and 4 pin connected for it to work.

What operating system is installed?

The H100i led display only lights up through software program, e.g. once inside Windows.

Try disconnecting the USB dongle.

H100i also has a SATA power cable. Is that connected?

It only need the 8 or 4 pin, unless the op is looking at extreme overclocking then the extra 4 pin would be needed (including the 8 pin)

Thanks for your help.

As stated later down this thread it is only needed for extreme OC but I have tried with connection and without connection to no avail.

No OS installed yet as I cannot get it to boot to BIOS or anything. No fans are running (I have 4 on the case plus two with the H100i).

SATA is Connected. I will try to disconnect USB dongle. Thanks for your help.

I did not have a 3 pin case fan connector to Molex adapter to test the PSU so I decided to remove ALL components from the MB and start again.

Well - after an hour of sweating with the fiddly cable Management I had set up - I finally diagnosed the issue.

It was the mPCIe Combo II card!

Once I removed it and started the system - it booted up! All fans running! The H100i lights up (blue I think)

I will be installing the new OS tomorrow (I spent far too much time messing around with it today).

A swift search on Google shows that other users of this MB have had similar problems.
The gentleman in the following links seems to have a similar set up as mine and experienced the same issue:

I will plug the mPCIe as the guy did in the link above and see if mine boots again but am going to have a rest tonight!

Thanks for your suggestions!

I have the same CPU, mobo and ssd(is that the evo?), the rest is 16gb corsair ram, corsair ax860(which is basically the seasonic 860w platinum), sapphire 290x reference.

I didn't install the mpcie combo ii card(is that that the one with the wifi and bluetooth also?) when I built the PC a few months back as I was having other issues with getting the motherboard to fit in the corsair 750d case, turns out there is a compatibility issue and corsair will be releasing a 'new' 750d that sorts out the problem. Once I get that new case I will try installing the combo card as I'll have to remove the motherboard from the case to install and I can't be bothered to at the moment due to not needing the wifi, bluetooth or the mpcie.

Guess it's a good thing I didn't install that card as I was having enough problems and that would really have been the 'straw that broke the camels back'. As the previous time I gave into temptation and bought a top end mobo(couple years back with the ASRock extreme 9 gen 3) I had no end of trouble.
