New system help required.... Very Confused!

Help - Married with children... So I need to spend the money Smartish!!

I require some help /advice regarding a new system.

Due to my current failing PC, I have been “allowed” to spend around £1300.
It has been a while since I have spec’d anything and I have been looking at the offerings here, both pre built and other. I’ve managed to confuse myself or get too carried away and now I’m not sure what I actually need anymore? GFX card is a classic example!

The only requirement I’m sure of is a Bluray Writer.
Would like: Ideally a new Monitor (Larger the Better), Ability to run virtual machines when I get bored and some longevity would be great (if that’s possible)
For some reason I keep looking at the Intel 80Gig solid state drives, But I not sure if it is an expense that’s justified? a 5850 no sure why...
I have been looking at this for example but (think) I need the I7 930 Quad system?

Will do self build (if I have too), but I am short on time atm.
I have a whole host of rubbish around, but it’s not up to much I assume most of it can’t be recycled into anything meaningful?

re use your p183 and hard drives, maybe enough money left for a cheap ssd or a 1tb samsung spinpoint f3

edit: that antec modular psu would probs be powerful enough for the new system tbh depending on how efficient it is, so you could take out the ocz psu if you want

This is where my problem lies

Intial use would be sorting the huge amount of data.
So a lot of file / video compression and archiving.
Think thats why I was looking at the I7? have looked at AMD.

After that.. My current usage is just general.. but thats all my current PC is good for.

I used to play BF2 Loads then got bored with Dice. Bad company 2 has caught my attention So I have started to get too carried away for my budget !

Some future proof and virtualization support would be good.
No OS required.

I was not sure if my current psu could power much now..etc
or any parts were of use.
