new system issues and advice

purchased a ocuk value system preloaded with windows7 home edit x64 (primo trinity)

this is a replacement system for my parents.

whilst setting up W7 i installed microsoft security essentials and when atempting to the delete the pre-installed norton antivirus suffered a bsod

at the time this knocked out the internet connection, which fortunately returned after a re-boot. However, I notice we have a usb device not recognised issue when atempting to install a 6 month old cannon printer

before i proceed any further i am going to unplug the unit and re-boot, check all w7 updates are complete, remove norton via download tool and then i want to run a stress test to make sure everything is running correctly

1. I don't have any more details of the bsod but is it likely to be a result of trying to remove norton or a hardware issue?.....first time i have seen a bsod in a few years!

2. is is there a stress test built into W7 i can use?

quick response would be helpful as popping over there this evening

1) Was you removing the Norton Removal tool, check there web site and download.

2) Download Prime and run for a couple of hours to check for stability.

1. was simply removing norton using control panel > programs > uninstall a program. should be noted that i never installed norton onto the machine.....it was lurking requesting set-up after installing W7. I will download the removal tool from the norton site and see if that works

2. can download prime but was wondering if there is anything on w7....this is not an overclocked machine, just used for web browsing and word processing.

Sorry, far as I am aware there is no stress testing in Win 7
