New system now or wait.

Hey All

Just curious if anyone may know if there are any new generation of graphics cards or CPU's coming out around August/September of this year, my current build is by no means old but I am looking to make a new system in order to play Destiny 2 which is due for release in September, I basically want a system capable of running in with no questions asked and much more, so curious if there is any point in building a new up to date system now or waiting until nearer the time for the next generation or spec hardware to come out.

Cheers in advance.

with pc hardware there is always that 1 new 'next gen' piece of hardware just round the corner. amd vega is due for reveal at the end of the month. I'd wait till then if I were you but I wouldn't specifically wait till august/sept as by then there will be word on the next update/refresh be it gpu or cpu. so you could in theory end up always waiting for the next best thing!

We can not answer that if we do not know what your current spec is :) so my answer is yes spend £2000 updating your system. How can we say whether your system will run a game thats not out till September ? We could do a best guess but seriously wet your finger and hold it up in the wind! :)

Name your spec.

If we where wait every time for the next generation of graphics cards or CPU's coming out no would buy anything, because everything change within two years I Read NVidia is going to release the 2050 - 2070 GTX 2080 & 2080 TI? only Rumored I can't say about the Intel CPU's you can read it here http://wccftech.com/nvidia-volta-12nm-finfet/

Its so good to jump on a new build now , Ryzen made sure of that. So half treat yourself now and decide on what gpu you want later! Im running a 1700 with a hd6540, seeing what vega will bring

On CPU side Intel did easy performance boosts years ago with AMD lagging badly behind until Zen-architecture.
Biggest news on Intel side should be Intel finally having more than four cores (reached decade ago) in "desktop" platform.
Though IPC/single core performance changes will be minor.

From current desktop Intel CPUs I would keep only 4c/8t i7 7700 as good for many years to come so that all stuff running on background stuff won't cause so easily frame rate drops.
On AMD side Ryzen has things lot better for that with even 8c/16t available without it costing arm and leg.

In GPUs Nvidia is less likely to be able to maintain huge performance increases because of already having added some major efficiency improving methods in Maxwell/Pascal.

While AMD has had very little architechture changes in past years.
Hence having troubles turning raw processing power to comparable actual performance while still consuming lots of power.
With Vega very likely using similar methods difference to current AMD cards should be really major and likely bring back some actual competition in high end.

Though Nvidia's performance advances seem to have come also from their more traditional tricks:
