Following on from this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17959322&highlight=system+problem.

Well i have just recieved a new Q6600 and i'm getting the same problems as i did with the other cpu.

Basically the system boots, the CPU_LED diagnostic light comes on for 2 seconds, the light goes off, the hard drives load, then just before the bios loads the CPU_LED light comes on and the system restarts.

I've tested all 4 gb of my memory in all the slots and it doesn't make any difference.

I'm about to try it in my old motherboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as its starting to become stupid now.

Thanks.

what voltage are you trying the ballistix at ?

I cant load the bios to change the volts, it wont even get to the point of loading the bios.

I've just tried the new cpu and other bits in my old motherboard and thats not working either.

So either both motherboards are faulty or something else.

I presume you have tried resetting the CMOS?

Yeah i'm speaking with a guy from gigabyte online support via the tweaktown forum and he gave me a link to a 20min full cmos clear, which i did.

That includes putting pins on the clear cmos, taking the battery out for 20mins and holding down the clear cmos quick button for 1 minute.

any chance you have any other memory to try ?

my ballistix worked fine for a while then needed the voltage upped to work.

I've read the other thread but it's not clear if you've tried booting with just a single RAM stick?

Also have you had a look at the CPU socket to make sure there are no bent pins?

One last thing, I had a similar problem with my then old Gigabyte P965-DS3P, continual reboots and what I did was pull out the 4/8 pin mobo connector and plug it in whilst it was in the continual boot cycle, might have just been luck but the system fired up when I did this.

Sadly i have no other memory.

Yeah i have tried booting it with all 4 sticks individually in all 4 slots.

Yeah i just checked and everything looks fine.

Just tried that and the CPU_LED diagnostic light was on all the time, i'm guessing it was because the 8-pin wasnt connected, soon as i plugged it in, 5-6 secs later it rebooted.

I've included a video of that problem, should help with understanding the issue a bit more.

The wushing noise at the beginning is the graphics card fan spinning up then slowing down.
