Hi there I recently put together my new system, it's as signature. The system works fine, good performance etc, no crashes! But some time when I first turn on the system it hangs before bios starts . I can tell it's not booting as the hard drives don't turn on! And the hdd light doesn't flash! Nothing shows on the monitor! I turn it off and on again and after 2 or 3 times it starts up normal? The board is the B3 version with latest bios already installed. Any ideas?

Unless I'm missing something, your PSU isn't listed in your sig. Intermittent hanging on boot can be caused by unstable voltages from your power supply, so I'd start the troubleshooting by trying a different one.

Does this problem occur if your computer has been switched off by the socket only?
If so, this is normal. You need to give the power supply to charge its capacitors and inductors, which won't boot the system properly otherwise.

If it does this even when it's been switched on by the plug all night or whatever, then it's as above, get a new power supply.

Hi thanks for replys, I never turn power off from the wall, the system starts off, can here fans going, then it turns off for a second and then starts again? I have a hyper 880w power supply which I have had for about 18months, and it's my next thing to replace with my graphics card. I was wondering if it could be a USB hub causing this? On my old system I bought a USB extension cable for use with a hub as my pc is part of a home theatre/gaming room I have in a spare room. Anyway the only extension they had was a booster which bounces the signal back he said, and when I first installed this on my old system , the pc did a similar thing. But sorted itself out? Hopefully when I renew psu it will sort this out, thanks again

Do you have a number of USB powered / charging gadgets attached to the PC? I get the same issue when I power-up my PC with a Kindle attached to a USB.. no issue with keyboards, mice, iPods etc.. only the damn Kindle!

I just have a roccat powered hub, but power not needed to use, only to charge iphone etc. with a logitech g13 attached. when I first installed this the system would not load windows. i unplugged usb lead, restarted and then windows started fine. i then plugged usb back in and it worked fine. restarted many time and never had another problem until i have upgraded pc. but today its started up fine lol. maybe there is still a few probs with bios etc. but im still changing psu for future graphics upgrades :)
