That looks pretty good although I'd suggest the Geil 2gb PC6400 instead as it is the same price but better specifications. I'd also change the PSU to something else as I think there are better than Hiper out there for the money, if modularity is important then something like an Enermax Liberty 500w is roughly the same price but I think a more solid PSU.

Otherwise it looks fine, I might suggest also getting an aftermarket CPU cooler, particularly if overclocking, maybe an Arctic Freezer 7 which has good performance, is quiet and pretty cheap.

Agreed...the Geil Looks like better stuff. Think I will change to this. I know a couple of people with the Hiper PSU and they seem to be OK and reasonably cheap..hence the reason for going with that

Overclocking I dont think will be much of an issue at the moment...its is wanted for playing the latest games on and has to last for a couple of years without upgrading too much...which Im sure it will. Im sure the stock cooler will be OK for the moment.

Any comments on the monitor selection also...how does the Samsung rate? Pricewise its very competive!

The Geil RAM is out at the moemnt...what about some of the GSKill Stuff...

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 GA PC2-5400 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit

or

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 PK PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit

If overclocking isnt such a big issue...do I really need the 6400 speed? Anyhow..what is the deafult FSB speed of the Conroe 6600? What is the standard RAM speed required for this CPU.

Thanks

No it isn't the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz is still in stock. :) I wouldn't suggest the GSkill with a Gigabyte motherboard unless it is the HZ stuff as there are known incompatibility problems. PC5300/5400 should be fine with the 6600 but I'd recommend the PC6400 if there may be overclocking and it doesn't cost that much more.
